“You never know what you’ve got till it’s gone”
*inspired by TobyMac’s “Gone”
When things leave your life there are usually mixed emotions about it, though sometimes they may be all positive or all negative, depending on what is gone. Lots of times you are sad for the loss but know that there’s a purpose behind it, a much bigger and better one then you can ever imagine
.
For example, like the song, “Gone” by TobyMac – you’ve lost a boyfriend/girlfriend and are upset about it. Yes, of course you can be upset, for a time, but at a certain point you have to move on. One day you will realize why the other person is no longer part of your life. You’ll either find someone perfect for you that makes you look back and see that you wouldn’t have been happy with anybody else and God knew you wouldn’t fulfill His purpose for your life with the anyone else in your life. Or – God will show you something in the other person’s life that you are thankful to no longer be a part of.
When things leave your life that makes you sad because you thought they were for good, they may have been good for a season, but your season is changing and they are no longer a part of your future. They might even hurt your future if you hold on to them for too long. Sometimes you know you need to let something go. Sometimes that might mean hurting someone for a short period of time, but in the end you will both be thankful and the hurt won’t seem so bad, especially if you know it’s what needed to be done and it was done in love.
Listen to your heart. Listen to God’s voice. You don’t want to have to get knocked over the head because it’s not fun for awhile, but God will do what He needs to do to get your attention when necessary. In the end you will be thankful. Everything will turn out for God’s purpose and it will be a million times greater than we can imagine for ourselves.
Listen to His voice. Surrender when need be. Follow His path. Love unconditionally. Don’t just put a smile on your face, but put one in your heart as well. Talk to God, He will answer. Maybe not today and maybe not the way you want Him to, but He will do it in His perfect timing
